where will we put all the art?

This is something I ask myself every time I look inside my flat file. So this year I am looking to put my work out there a bit more in some shows, especially in unique spaces or group shows.

Do you know of any cool opportunities? A public wall that could use adornment / a group show you are curating / an event space I could curate something for? I’d love to hear.

Below are some of my recent shows. Get on my invite list here.

FLOWERS IN HER HAIR

SOFT GAZE II

A group show at Arise Yoga, December 2022

My current drawings play with the idea of seeing – with shape as an optical illusion and touching on themes of seeing, transforming, flowing, dissolving. Observing them can become a meditation as you allow your gaze to linger and change focus. Look closely, you might notice that many use repeated forms to create their shapes and patterns. Look with a softer focus, and you may find yourself lost in a new layer of the positive or negative space. Take a broader view of a few drawings together to allow them to be in conversation.

I wonder what it is, if anything that asks you to gaze longer. What can captivate us? Or are we so accustomed to moving quickly through life that we can’t stop to see, or contemplate, or arrive? Is it aesthetics, a sense of movement, something pleasing in simplicity that brings you back to a picture’s plane? I’ve often found it is the things of mystery, the questions that may not have answers, the unknowable, that asks me to look again.
